Department Objectives

The Department of Home Science strives to achieve the following academic, skill-oriented, and community-driven goals:

• Food Science & Nutrition: To understand the principles of food science, nutrition, meal management, and therapeutic diets for promoting health and well-being.
• Textile & Apparel Designing: To acquire knowledge of textile science and develop practical skills in apparel construction, garment designing, and creative expression.
• Human Development & Family Dynamics: To gain insights into human development across the lifespan and foster the dynamics of healthy family and social relationships.
• Interior Decoration & Space Planning: To learn the fundamentals of interior decoration, resource management, and space planning for creating functional and aesthetically pleasing living environments.
• Extension Education & Outreach: To grasp the basics of home science extension education for effectively disseminating knowledge and empowering local communities.
• Skill Enhancement & Entrepreneurship : To provide hands-on vocational training and practical expertise that empower female students toward self-reliance, financial independence, and entrepreneurship.
• Experiential & Multidisciplinary Learning : To foster critical thinking and practical competence through laboratory practical’s, field surveys, research projects, and interdisciplinary learning.
• Community Engagement & Social Responsibility : To bridge academic knowledge with societal needs through extension activities, health and nutrition awareness programs, and sustainable lifestyle initiatives.
