The Department of Political Science was established on August 6, 1993, with a core mission to foster critical thinking, civic awareness, and a deep understanding of governance, political theories, and international relations. For over three decades, the department has dedicated itself to providing high-quality higher education, preparing students to navigate and contribute meaningfully to contemporary socio-political landscapes. The department offers a foundational Undergraduate Program leading to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Department runs the Shivaji University syllabus for the students. This curriculum is structured around a modern semester examination pattern, which ensures continuous evaluation, steady academic engagement, and alignment with contemporary educational standards. The admissions and results of the department are better every year. The department complements its rigorous academic curriculum with a vibrant array of co-curricular and extracurricular activities designed to provide holistic, field-based learning. It regularly organizes student seminars, group discussions, and expert guest lectures that encourage critical debate on contemporary geopolitical issues, constitutional law, and public policy. To bridge theoretical knowledge with practical governance, the department facilitates mock parliaments (Youth Parliaments), field visits to local self-government bodies (Gram Panchayats/Municipal Corporations), and voter awareness campaigns that foster active civic engagement and leadership skills among undergraduate students.
